Dear Friend,
What
are some of the most satisfying and highest paid professions in North America?
I’m talking about professions where you can hone a single talent, learn the
secrets and potentially make more money in a day (and sometimes in an hour) than
the majority of Americans make in a year?
The first two professions are professional athletes and Hollywood actors. But
let’s be honest. Short of winning “American Idol,” your chance of becoming
a major “player” in either of these industries is just about nil, even if
you have the talent.
The third highest paid profession not only provides you time flexibility, you
can work from home if you want, is tons of fun, creative, legal, and also allows
you to make great money doing something you love.
This amazing industry is professional voice-over. And whether you are a serious
beginner or a voice talent already working and wanting to work more, I can help.
Just listen to what some of the people who attended my last Bootcamp had to say:
|
||||
Although Im a little embarrassed to talk about my success lest you think Im bragging, its important for you to know that everything I teach is based on personal experience. Ive been a full-time voice-over artist since 1987. I have my own recording studio in Englewood Cliffs, NJ (just for the private use of my company) and a full-time staff of 7, including 3 engineers. Im one of the voices that says Thank you for using AT&T and the telephone voice of Citibank, among others. Ive been featured on CNBC, in Business Week, in the NY Times and on TVs To Tell The Truth. When the game show announcer asked the real Susan Berkley to please stand up, I knew Id made it.
When I started my voice-over career I was a debt-ridden disc jockey working at demeaning part-time jobs just to make ends meet. At one point I had a telemarketing job where I actually sold deodorant crystals to funeral homes! You cant get any lower than that.
Then, in 1982, everything changed.
I realized (the hard way) that if I wanted to become successful at voice-over Id have to do a lot more than just sending out a few demos and waiting for the phone to ring. There are secrets to enjoying a lucrative voice-over business with a steady stream of loyal customers. Some of these secrets are practical, tactical things you should be doing every day. But theres also a more important, little-known mindset you have to adopt in order to succeed.
The psychological underpinnings of this mindset are based on the work of a prominent Brazilian psychoanalyst named Dr. Norberto Keppe. I met him in 1982 and have been a student ever since. Dr. Keppes methodology has some surprising applications to voice-over, teaching us how to avoid self-sabotaging attitudes that can prevent us from achieving our goals. In this Bootcamp, Ill introduce you to this incredible school of thought and share some key distinctions that will help you gain confidence and increase your chances for success.
Its a good feeling when your career takes off and you have recording sessions every day. And it also feels good when the day is over and you gratefully realize you made as much money in a couple of hours (while loving every minute of it) than many people make in an entire week at a dead-end job.
Of course I can't guarantee how successful you'll be in voice-over or how much work you'll book. But I can promise that my guests and I will hold nothing back, leave no question unanswered, and do everything we can to share the information, tips and techniques that can vastly increase your chances for success.
If voice-over has been a dream for you, dont procrastinate
any longer. This Bootcamp has the know-how you need to help make your
dream a reality. But you must act fast. Because I prefer to work with
a small, select group of people where everyone can get lots of personal
attention, seating is limited to the first 26 people who call, and I mean
it. If youre person #27, Ill have to put you on a waiting
list or turn you away.

the truth. True voice-over success comes when you find your own "signature
sound" and learn how to truly use your voice as an instrument. We'll
explore:
Noon - 1:00 PM: Lunch on your own
1:30 4:30 PM: Corporate and Documentary Narrations directed in the studio by Adriana Davis, award winning producer from D-Squared Media
Day 2: Million Dollar Marketing Blueprint
8:30 AM - noon: The "inside scoop" about making serious money in voice-over
Ill share the marketing plan I used to build my own million-dollar business in complete step-by-step detail. Youll get a workbook filled with links to voice-over casting sites and a step-by-step outline of my marketing plan. Discover how to:
Noon 1:00 PM: Lunch on your own
1:00 3:00 PM: How to have a demo CD that will get you noticed and get you work
Your voice-over demo can make or break your career. Get it wrong and you'll flush a ton of money down the toilet, embarrass yourself and risk becoming so discouraged that you drop out of the business. Get it right and you'll get booked again and again and again. Susan Berkley and Diana Boylston will share secrets for successful demos and play lots of examples. If you have a demo, bring it along for critique. If you don't, Susan and Diana will "type" you and make suggestions on how to produce a demo that is right for you.
3:00 - 4:00 PM: Home Studio Highlights
Putting in a home studio can greatly increase your voice-over profits. And the good news is, with today's digital technology you don't need to spend a fortune to do it. In this module, you'll learn whether installing a home studio is right for you, how to choose between an astounding array of valuable technology and how you can take the guess work out of the process. Susan will recommend the best equipment for a home studio and share tips on how to do it right.
4:00-5:00 PM How to win more auditions directing yourself from home
Setting up a home studio is one thing. Knowing how to direct yourself is another! In this module, Diana and Susan will train you how to make winning choices when interpreting copy on your own without a director. You'll learn: how to know when then spot is "good enou gh" to send, how to make choices that will make you stand out from the crowd, how to avoid "brain freeze" and "freak outs" that can occur when you are alone in your room, staring at the mic and the script.
