For the Holidays I wish you lots of fun voice over projects and big fat checks.

I hope you get to work with great directors and read wonderful scripts that challenge you as a voice actor and help you grow.

But alas, such scripts are like dreams of the Sugar Plum Fairy-a fantasy.

Every once in a while you’ll get a great script from someone who really knows how to write. It’s a pleasure and a joy to perform.

But most of the time we’re stuck with ads that were hastily written by someone in the sales department, by lawyers or (heaven forbid) by the client themselves.

As voice over professionals we never complain and we never tell client they’ve got an ugly baby. We pour love into everything we do.

But sometimes it’s flat out impossible to read a script the way it was written.
There are just too many words for too little time.

What do you do?

My advice is diplomatic and humane and the client will still love you.
