I love tea. How about you?
I learned the hard way that certain teas and voice over don’t mix.
Black tea? The tannic acid in a good strong ‘cuppa will close your throat like drinking sand.
Add milk and that blobby green monster from the Mucinex commercials will take up permanent residence in your nasal passages.
Peppermint tea is a surprising villain. It’ll leave you dry as a wooly sock.
Water’s the best but if you must do tea, stick with the caffeine-free fruity herbals or a tea called “Throat coat” from the health food store.
So now that you know what’s good to drink in the voice booth, let’s talk about mouth noise.
That’s the topic of this week’s short INSIDE VOICE OVER video training blog.

Hello Susan,
I hope things are well.
What a timely video. I just had a tooth extracted and aside from looking like a jack-o-lantern, I sound like I’m six years old and drunk. Fortunately they gave me a “flipper” tooth that improves the “look” but still presents some speech issues.
Okay, enough about me, how are you?
KK
good video! thank you for the drink suggestions!
Great tips! I totally didn’t know that about cold water.
Thank you so much!
Very interesting what we do not think about that changes our sound.
Great as always !
Sam
Great info! I love black tea with milk but didn’t know it could cause that problem. By the way, I just bought the 4 video training course at 50% off. Really looking forward to learning and eventually making my first professional demo.
