This time of year, many people are in the gym, hoping to make good on their New Years resolution to get into shape.

If they’re smart, they start every workout with a warm up.

And you should do the same for every voice over audition or job, too.

But do you know what to do?

To be truly effective, warming up your voice for voice over takes a lot more than just spritzing a little water down your throat and saying “me, me me” like the old opera singer in a Bugs Bunny Cartoon.

In this week’s Inside Voice Over video training, I bring you the best vocal warmups that you can do quickly and easily before you turn on the mic.

I demonstrate them and teach them to you here…

After you watch the video, I want to know your thoughts. Do you regularly warm up your voice? Were my exercises easy to do?

Let me know your thoughts in the comments box. I want to read about what’s on your mind so I can support you.

  1. Thanks Susan, I warm my voice in a similar manner+ the NBC announcers piece
    “one hen, two ducks”….etc.

  3. Thanks very much, Susan. As I do more voice-overs and reading aloud, I’ve definitely noticed that the vocal warm-up is critical. These are great, easy suggestions. All the best to you in 2016!
