Auditions.
Love ’em or hate ’em, they’re a fact of voice over life.
The key to auditioning successfully is to do the best you can and get them out of door… fast. Then forget about them.
It’s rare to get feedback and they’ll find you if you book the job.
But did you know most auditions are won or lost in the first 5 seconds?
It’s the moment of truth and if you blow it, most auditors will hit delete before they even get to the end of your read.
In this week’s Inside Voice Over, I analyze the top 7 things that can go wrong in your voice over audition and how you can correct them to stack the cards in your favor.
If you’re just starting out, make sure you save this blog. It’s practical advice you’ll refer to often as you grow your career.
So check it out and give it a go. And then let me know how it works for you. Click here for:

This is the practical, step-step voice over marketing program you’ve been looking for! Stay tuned for details.

Great Advice, Susan, I have been struggling trying to find my voice, and man is it frustrating. I am a ANNOUNCER, and I can’t get rid of it, I continue to work on it, am getting a little better, but it is hard. My goal is to be a VO artist well into my silver haired, and even my blue hair years, so I will keep pushing, and your advice has always been very helpful. Keep it coming and “KEEP TALKING” Tom Backer

Happy to help, Bill!
Yes, it helps greatly.
Oh good, Rick.Thanks for watching
Yup, that’s it. Seems to me the real key is practice, practice, practice. Then go back to the voice coach for another round of critique and re-direction. Lather, rinse, repeat! Oh, and there’s no substitute for experience: audition, audition, audition!
That’s so true David. Thanks for writing
Hello Susan,
As with all of your videos, this information is very helpful. I’m grateful for the insight into the voiceover profession from someone like you. Thank you for the weekly videos and emails. I’m also looking forward to hearing about the program that focuses on not auditioning though auditioning may be part of the job, it would be good to know how to avoid it if you chose to.
Thank you again!
