Ever heard the term “lifestyle business”? It’s frequently used by people in the so-called ‘gig” economy who are looking for a way to make some extra cash while they live life on their own terms.
Some of these people legitimately need the extra income to supplement poor paying day jobs, beef up retirement income or provide for their family.
For others, travel and leisure comes first-work second.
They envision hitting the road with their microphone in their backpack, skiing and surfing first and then doing a little easy “work” behind the mic when the spirit moves them.
So what’s the real deal here?
Is voice over really a lifestyle business or is there something else you need to know?
That’s the subject of this week’s Inside Voiceover video training blog. Check out my video here as I tell it like it is.

Awww! Thanks, Tom. As long as I don’t have to read anything I’ll leave them off. 🙂
Needed to hear that. Thx.
I echo the “no glasses” the comment! Didn’t realize what was different until I saw the comment.
Thanks Jim! Glad to have you onboard. Susan
Very good break down Susan. I see it’s a big difference.
Yes, David. We really are in a service business. That, to me, is even more fun than the work itself.
