Does being an audiobook narrator appeal to you?
These day’s they’re hotter than ever with annual sales topping $1 billion.
Scott Brick, a top audio book narrator, was featured on CBS Sunday Morning this past weekend and recently audio books were the subject of an entire segment of the NY Times.
But being successful in audio books takes much more than a pleasant reading voice. Watch this week’s Inside Voice Over short video training blog for an in-depth look at the audio books voice over opportunity.

I agree with what you say. I have 50 years in Broadcasting (Radio and TV), spent 35 years as Senior Investigative Reporter for the CBS Affiliate in Tampa and now am doing Investigative Documentaries and a weekly radio show, which is recorded in my home studio. I’m also about to begin narration of my own book “Bad News for You is Good News for Me! which hit Amazon this week https://www.amazon.com/dp/1940300126?ref_=pe_3052080_397514860
Excellent advice, as always, Susan. The audio books niche is growing by leaps and bounds, but you have to be willing to put in the time and effort to make it top-notch!
You may recall my saying I had in mind a project to record the Bible. Well, I’m just about finished with the New Testament, and have competed a couple of Old Testament books, too. What an amazing experience! Each book has its own character, and set of characters, too. Running time I estimate around 40-50 hours when finished. And all because you made me say I *can* do this!
thanks for the good advice!
I’ve narrated 7 books. Everything you say is true!
Is there a niche for audio books specializing in sports? For example, fiction, instructional, biographies, etc.?
