It’s the biggest secret of the rich and famous.
Behind the outward trappings of success-the gold records, the Oscars, the limos, the loot- many stars secretly suffer from a crisis of confidence.
Many turn to drugs and alcohol to ease their nerves, often with tragic consequences. But the most successful learn to deal with the anguish of self-doubt as they practice their craft.
So how about you? How’s your confidence level about your voice over career?
Is nagging self-doubt keeping you from taking the first steps toward your dreams?
In this week’s Inside Voice Over video training blog I explore the roots of self- confidence and share some key distinctions that will help you get unstuck so you can keep moving toward voice over success.
What I have to say may surprise and even shock you, but in the end it will help you enjoy every step of your journey toward voice over success.

An Action-Packed Blueprint!
“I found the Voice Over Immersion over this past weekend a remarkable, action packed blueprint for marketing my Voice Over business and deepening my understanding of the creative work for voice talent. As an actor, I was humbled by the process and inspired by the growth. The entire Great Voice Company team each brought a vital piece to imparting these gems!” Beth Kucharczyk, Garden City, NY
Oh, Susan! I went through a terrible period of self doubt. I hit bottom for about a week, and did a lot of soul searching. I read a lot of spiritual books, like Tolle, Ruiz, Byron, Faye Mandell etc ( all shrinks, lol). So that helped me get back on my feet and keep working at it. Ive read many accounts now, and spoke with many Talents now, and they all share the same thing. Many of these great people have started out with little skill, and now they rock! That gave me hope! I’m now loving this journey!
So glad you turned things around, Greg. Thanks for sharing your journey.- Susan
I really loved what you said Susan, a clear uplifting message from your experience. My take away: Be gentle with the inner landscape, have fun, and also befriend your learning curve!!
Thanks again for this valuable reminder and encouragement…
I love the idea of an inner landscape and befriending your learning curve. Thanks for your comment, Beth.- Susan
Do not lack confidence in almost anything !
Thanks for sharing. Very very true. What helps me is trusting in my coaches feedback. The more you apply the techniques shared, the more you will feel confident.
Sometimes, when we are learning, we need to borrow someone else’s confidence until we find our footing. So glad to have you in my Platinum program, Eddie- Susan
Yes, confidence is global but it always comes from within and whether or not we accept our being, Ken.- Susan
I am so glad to have “discovered” your website Susan. I receorded a demo and did a marketing/training class 10 years ago, and have been ambivalent since then about truly getting started due to a lack of confidence, which has stopped me from learning the technology, and putting myself out there. I’ve “re-discovered” my training materials, and I’m diving back in. I’m suspecting that marketing has changed a little, so I’m searching for some pointers.
Thanks for the encouragement, I’m tuned in.
