Ever since I signed up with Spotify I’ve been a dancin’fool.
New music, old music -the funkier the better.
So I took a trip down O’Jay’s lane with their hits “Backstabbers,” “Love Train,” and “For The Love Of Money.”
That song was the famous theme song for Trump’s The Apprentice and it became seared into our collective psyche , but musically speaking it’s worth digging out for another listen.
Speaking of money, the #1 search term in the voice over universe is voice over jobs. So you might be wondering how you get them and how long it takes.
Of course, money doesn’t come on schedule when you call.
There’s only one ethical way to make money in voice over or in any other endeavor. And that’s the subject of this week’s Inside Voice Over.

Glad you like it Mark! Thanks for watching
My comment is not on this video, but I do enjoy your weekly advice and cheerleading.
Here’s my particular story.
I’ve been recording books for the blind at the Braille and Talking Book Library: http://www.michigan.gov/lara/0,4601,7-154-28313_54234-221827–,00.html
My reason for doing that was to practice my craft so I could see where my weaknesses were and improve them. I’ve been doing that for over two years now, and I think I’m doing pretty well.
But I notice two problems myself.
1. I feel like it takes me at least the first five to ten minutes to get my breathing regular. During that time, I keep feeling like I’m trying to catch my breath. After that, I feel fine.
2. My mouth seems really dry when I start. I keep water with me, but it seems to take me a while to hydrate comfortably.
Do you have any thoughts on these two problems? (These might be good questions to put in your video blog as well.)
Thanks for reading. I hope to hear from you soon.
Hi Tracey,
First of all, congratulations on the work you are doing for the blind. Wonderful! If you plan your breaths you’ll solve the problem. Mark your script and plan to grab air at the end of each thought. Relaxation exercises will also help. You’re right, it actually takes 2 hours to hydrate, so you’ll have to start drinking extra water ahead of the session in addition to during. You’ll probably find certain foods make your dryer. Good luck and hope that helps
