This week, a secret to voice over success you may never have thought about before.
I call it weird because it has nothing to do with your voice or performance. It has nothing to do with your demo, your website or home studio.
It might seem a little “woo-woo” but actually it’s a law of physics.
What is it?
The law of momentum.
The dictionary defines momentum as strength or force gained by motion or through the development of events. When momentum kicks in in your voice over career, opportunities start to appear.
You may start to meet people who can make connections and help you out. You may even book your first job or two. Bit by bit, all the pieces of your career will start to fall into place.
In order to get momentum to kick in in your voiceover career, you must make a serious commitment to speed.
That means no more pussy footing around and waiting for perfection. You must jump into action on all fronts:
- Creating a ‘warm list’ of people you know who might help you in your career
- Buying your first USB microphone to start recording and practicing from home
- Joining my Mic To Money on line marketing training
(starting October 10- www.mictomoney.com)
In this week’s Inside Voice Over video training blog I explore the law of momentum and how you can get some of that “secret sauce” going in your own voice over career.

Thanks Susan. I learned to drive in LA, on the 405 the fast lane. This was excellent. The reminder of momentum.I am going to pick up speed. Thanks again for the boost.
Really? On the 405? That’s hard core! Glad you survived. 🙂
Thanks for writing Dave

ANYthing we do, Ernie. Try it out. It works. Thanks for the comment
You are absolutely correct. It’s so easy to grow the attitude of “I’ll start it tomorrow.” Then the tomorrows grow into months without any progress which then grows into depression because nothing is getting accomplished. I’m older and retired, but I make it a goal to do at least one thing a day to advance my new VO career. (And no… watching cat videos all day doesn’t count.) Whether it’s auditioning, marketing, or learning new audio editing techniques. Just do SOMETHING! Even if it doesn’t result in immediate income, it will. I consider myself as a product. Just like any new “widget” that’s on the market. Anything I can do to improve my value will eventually pay off. (Assuming you have the right attitude, are willing to learn, and follow the success route of others.) Ok, I’m rambling.
Appreciate your comment, Larry! 🙂
He has given me your e-mail address so i will stay in touch and we will have some more cam fun.

Susan, this is the kick-in-the-pants I needed to get moving. In life, sometimes you just have to jump in and DO IT!
As always, thanks so much.
